About Room Remedies

Room Remedies opened for business in 2001, and is the third generation of a business that has gone from Grandmother (in the 1960's) to Father to Daughter. Located originally in Wimbledon it started as a bric-a-brac shop, grew into an antique shop with workshop and is now a home furnishing store with a mix of new and old that draws on the knowledge of the past to create a look that fits into a more modern home interior.

We specialize in the following:

- Painted and restored antique and vintage furniture that we do in-house.

- Making made to measure coatracks from reclaimed wood

- We offer a bespoke customer furniture painting service

- We fabricate shelving, shoe racks, doorstops, mirrors and chalkboards using reclaimed materials where possible

- Up-cycle mirrors, small boxes, number plates, old windows, tennis raquets, cricket bats, golf clubs...

- Increasingly focus on Made in the UK

We love to restore antique and vintage furniture. Sometimes we restore and re-polish to its original wood finish, other times we will paint pieces. In general we use a chalk paint, (we are Grand Illusions Vintage Style Chalk paint stockists), to achieve a more rustic uneven finish. We offer a customer furniture painting service, please contact us if you would like to have something you own transformed.

Our other love it to make new pieces (shelving, coatracks, mirrors, cupboards) from an to assortment of reclaimed items. This includes reclaimed floorboards and architraving , pieces from furniture not used in restoration such as mirrors from dressing chests, and anything else that catches our eye whilst we are out and about, such as old windows and sporting equipment. Who knew that all this time we have been "up-cycling"?

We have now developed our own range of coatracks (made from reclaimed wood). These can be made to measure and this a very bespoke service. There are 4 base designs and then the customer can choose either a paint or wood finish, the length and the hooks they prefer. Please take a look at our designs that are currently available from stock.

After the furniture we search for mirrors and lighting and decorative accessoies that compliment the look, which all pull together the look and provide the finishing touches.

Not everything we sell is featured on the website. The shop is always the best place to have a look at our ever changing selection. We are open Tues-Sat 10 to 6pm. Closed on Sundays and Mondays (we can be available these days, but by appointment only).
