Getting the most from your candles

Lit CandleHave you ever wondered why your candles are burning down the centre and not all the way to the edge? Here are a few tips to get the most from your candles and the scents that they throw out.

1. On the first burn, trim the wick to 1cm and burn it for 3-4 hours or as long as it takes for a large melt pool to form.

2. Keep the wick trimmed regularly to prevent a tall flame. This is essential for a clean, smoke free burn.

3. With each lighting, keep the candle lit long enough to maintain the large melt pool. This will mean you get the maximum life and scent throw possible.

4. Keep the candle out of draughts. This can cause the wax to melt unevenly with the uneven heat distribution.

And don't forget to be candle safe!

* Never leave a candle lit and unattended.

* Keep out of reach of children and pets.

* Protect your surfaces with coasters, saucers and candle plates or dishes, especially as the candle burns to the base.
