Small Antique Pine Original Maroon Painted Box

This is an original antique pine Victorian box which we have symathetically restored. The colour is it original, a deep maroon with the white painted corners. The crackle patination was delightful so we decided to keep it, we just cleaned the paintwork and then applied 2 coats of a wax finish varnish to seal it. Next we decided it needed handles on the side, so we found these bakerlite ones. We also found a key, so that now the lock works and added a decorative brass escutheon. The handles and estchutheon are not from the same period as the box, but I thought it was a happy marriage, so went with it.
